Big win! We the people STOPPED BARCODES! In historic Greensboro, North Carolina, the Guilford County Board of Elections officials rejected the ES&S ExpressVote system, which uses a touchscreen terminal to record votes that produce a paper receipt that uses BAR-Codes which the digital scanner only reads. The BoE vote turned out to be a partisan vote of 3 to 2 with both republican votings for Ballot Marking Devices that would have cost the county about $5,000,000 over Hand-Marked Paper ballots. Big shout out to Dr. T Anthony Spearman who serves on Guilford BoE and is President of NAACP NC, who led the return to paper marked by human over machines.
